This year's policy debate topic is Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its democratic assistance for one or more of the following: Libya, Egypt, Bahrain, Syria, Yemen and Tunisia.
The affirmative ran a plan to help Yemen by offering more aid to assist in civil society groups. The advantages of the plan included preventing oil prices from skyrocketing out of control as well as an advantage about eradicating the dangerous Al-Qaeda in the Arab Peninsula group.
