This last weekend, the novice teams of Christian Benavides & Jimmy Rojas, along with Ryden Butler & Ali Jessani had an outstanding performance at the West Point tournament in New York. It was the first outing for the two novice teams and both came away with major accolades including a seventh place speaker award and an appearance in the Quarterfinals!
Christian and Jimmy, finished the preliminary rounds with a 4-2 record and advanced to the double octofinals elimination round. They advanced to the quarterfinal round with big wins over George Mason University and James Madison University before losing a tough round to the team from Binghamton. Also doing really well, Ali Jessani received the West Point Cadet coin for being the 7th speaker in a pool of one hundred and two competitors. It was an outstanding weekend for the boys who all made their collegiate debate debut at the tournament.
