Four teams clear at West Point

UM Debate advanced four teams into the elimination rounds of the US Military Academy tournament. Congratulations to all debaters, especially Joe and Russ for making it to the semi-finals.

1st Place at Georgia State

The debate team came out on top at the season opener at Georgia State University. Congratulations to Ashley and Barbara on the 1st place finish.

UM Ranked 11th

The University of Miami Debate Team starts off the year ranked 11th in the country according to the NDT school rankings.

UM Dominates at UCF

The novices shined at their first tournament, the Sunshine State Showdown sponsored by UCF.

2013 - 2014 HS Topic: Cuba

The NFHS has decided on the following resolution for high schoolers for 2013 - 2014. Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its economic engagement toward Cuba, Mexico or Venezuela.

Novices shine at West Point

This last weekend, the novice teams of Christian Benavides & Jimmy Rojas, along with Ryden Butler & Ali Jessani had an outstanding performance at the West Point tournament in New York. It was the first outing for the two novice teams and both came away with major accolades including a seventh place speaker award and an appearance in the Quarterfinals!

Round 1 at West Point is underway

The novices are excited for their collegiate debut at the West Point tournament, and they couldn't have picked a better venue. There are 45 teams in the pool and our guys have high hopes of making it into the elim rounds. The weather is beautiful, the campus is amazing and the preparation has been extensive. Round 1 has been posted and Miami BR is negative against George Mason, while Miami JB is affirmative against Binghamton. There will be updates throughout the weekend.
