Energy topic area for 2012 - 2013

Today, the CEDA Executive board announced the topic area for the 2012 - 2013 school year. The voting breakdown is posted after the jump.

73 schools voted.  A total of 72 ballots were counted (1 ballot did not list a first place vote).  The winning controversy area is Energy Policy.  A detailed breakdown is below. Initial total of first-place votes: Bioethics:  8 Cybersecurity:  1 Economic inequality:  5 Education:  6 Energy:  27 First Amendment:  3 Information privacy:  0 Latin America:  10 Tax Code Reform:  2 Targeted Tax Increases:  8 Women’s rights:  2 Information privacy and cyber security were dropped and the first-place vote was transferred.  The second count of first-place votes was: Bioethics:  9 Economic inequality:  5 Education:  6 Energy:  27 First Amendment:  3 Latin America:  10 Tax Code Reform:  2 Targeted Tax Increases:  8 Women’s rights:  2 Tax code reform and women’s rights were dropped and their first-place votes were transferred.  The third count of first-place votes was: Bioethics:  11 Economic inequality:  6 Education:  6 Energy:  27 First Amendment:  3 Latin America:  10 Targeted Tax Increases:  9 First Amendment was dropped and the first-place votes were transferred.  The fourth count of first-place votes was: Bioethics:  11 Economic inequality:  7 Education:  7 Energy:  27 Latin America:  11 Targeted Tax Increases:  9 Economic inequality and education were dropped and their first-place votes were transferred.  The fifth count of first-place votes was: Bioethics:  14 Energy:  35 Latin America:  14 Targeted Tax Increases:  9 Targeted tax increases was dropped and the first-place votes were transferred.  The sixth and final count of first-place votes was: Bioethics:  18 Energy:  39 Latin America:  15 Energy policy was selected with 39 (out of 72) first-place votes.
